Homefield Advantage?
Article by Larry Phipps
Oct 10, 2004
ran into the Swamp and mauled the Gators. The Rebels of Ole Miss invaded the Cockpit and ruffle more than a few Gamecock feathers. Alabama’s Crimson Tide rolled all over the Wildcats in the Bluegrass State. Heck, even lowly Rutgers, sunk the Commodores in Nashville. Only Auburn was able to hold serve.

Historically, with only a few exeptions, weeks five and six have produced a number of upsets. That is certainly the case for this season. Results should get back to normal (favorites winning the large majority of games) for the rest of the season.

There were several great games played. QB Marcus Randall led LSU’s comeback and lofted a TD pass to TB Joseph Addai with just 27 seconds left to secure the Tigers’ victory over Florida. QB Ethan Flatt completed a 38-yd scoring pass to WR Bill Flowers with 1:05 left to defeat South Carolina. Tennessee held off a late Georgia rally to win.

Tennessee is in good shape to win the SEC East as they have now defeated both Florida and Georgia. By doing so, they own the tie breaker against both teams.

Auburn is the only team to play consistently well on both sides of the ball and is in great shape to win the SEC West.
