AUBURN-A day after its second scrimmage of the fall, the Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Sunday afternoon with a two-hour workout. Dodging severe weather in the area, the squad worked out for 18 periods on the intramural fields.
Following Sunday's session, Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville reflected on Saturday's scrimmage. "It was a good practice today," Tuberville said. "We had a lot to work on. The scrimmage yesterday was good. It was better than the first one. We made a lot of mistakes, especially defensively. The defensive backs made a lot of mental mistakes, so we've got a lot to correct there. The effort yesterday was good and as long as the effort is there, we have a chance. On offense, we were a lot more consistent. The running game needs to be a little bit better as we missed a few blocks. We didn't try to run the ball much, but we'll do that when school starts up."
Auburn will hold its final two-a-days workout on Monday with sessions at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CDT. The Tigers will conduct their last practice at the intramural fields on Tuesday morning before taking Wednesday off for the start of classes. The remainder of preseason drills will be held on the practice fields behind the Athletic Complex
