LSU at VANDERBILT
Article by Larry Phipps

MTSU, which was unexpected.

Vandy is stepping up in competition big time when they take on the Tigers. The Tigers are superior in every category and have the edge at every position except for QB.

The Tiger pass defense has been terrible thus far this season. They have blown numerous assignments is their first three games and that could spell big problems against a Commodore aerial attack that is led by senior Jay Cutler and some decent receivers. The Commodore aerial attack is very good.

The Tiger should be able to win this game by running the ball against a suspect Commodore run defense, which would also keep Cutler and Company on the sidelines for much of the game. Also, the Tigers should be able to stymie the Commodore ground game that is a bit below average.

If the Tiger defensive coaches cannot get their defenders to play their assignments better, this game will be much closer than most expect and perhaps even result in an upset.

Based on the talent differential, the Tigers should win by 18 or more. However, until I see better pass defense, I’ll have to go with what I’ve seen thus far and predict a competitive 31-24 Tiger victory.
