Coach Spurrier has made a tremendous impact on the team. I don’t think we could ask for a better coach. He is a winner. It’s going to be very exciting playing for him this year. There is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm among the players. I could tell that the first practice. Everyone was excited about getting back on the field. Everyone has been working real hard through the winter, spring, summer and preseason. I’ve noticed a different attitude. Everyone wants to win.

When Spurrer came here, he told all the players, including walkons, that they would be given a fair chance at getting playing time. Coach said that any walkon that worked hard and proved himself could win a scholarship.I appreciate him for looking at everyone as the same.

It’s very competitive at practice. One day a player may be first team and the next day second team. You have to earn your spot every practice. That makes practices much better than before. In the past, even if you had a bad practice, you would still keep your position. That didn’t help you get better. The competition has been pretty fierce here lately. Guys want to earn spots and work their way to the top.
